We can finally say that Next Generation in gaming is in full swing with the release of the final 2 entries in console war in just about a months time. To commemorate this event we’ve decided to take a look back at all of our favorite games, in alphabetical order, across every generation. We’re calling this the Games You (Probably) Should Have Played.
Some of our choices will be mainstream titles, some will be indie games that you’ve probably never heard of. A handful of these selections will be older then you, while others are younger than your car. All that matters is that in some way we feel that these games are worth playing. So come along for the ride, as we start off in the Numbers before moving onto the letters of the alphabet. Don’t forget to tell us what your favorites are in the comments below!

1943 (ARC – 1987)
I think the first game like this I played was actually 1942, but I actually owned 1943 on the NES so way more time was spent on that. The game play isn’t really all that different, you’re a plane and you shoot down other plans, but the 3 year difference in releases helped refine the look a bit. 1943 definitely looks prettier.
3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3 – 2009)
Sometimes a game comes along and helps us remember why we began playing games in the first place. 3D Dot Game Heroes is one of those games. Picture the original Legend of Zelda but in 3D. Not like Ocarina of Time, but each pixel is a cube instead. What you get is a charming top down perspective Adventure RPG with customizable characters.
