Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week we help you get to know our writers with the help of a top 5 list! This week: Most Anticipated Summer Moves of 2014

We’re all pretty big movie fans at One-Quest, so the summer is usually an awesome time for us. So this week we decided to look ahead at the movies we’re most looking forward to seeing in a cold dark theater while it feels like a bad day on Tatooine outside. So let’s get started with our Most Anticipated Summer Movies of 2014.

Chris

There are a ton of awesome movie this summer, we’ve already had a few with Cap 2 and ASM 2. I can’t wait to see what else the summer movie season brings.

  1. Guardians of the Galaxy – I think everyone was a little skeptical when Marvel announced this one, but with ever image and trailer we see it just keeps looking better. And the cast is pretty awesome too.
  2. X-Men: Days of Future Past – After X-Men 3 I kinda lost interest in these movies, so I didn’t see First Class till almost a year after it released. That movie was fantastic though, and with Bryan Singer still in charge of DOFP this new chapter in the X-Men films looks like it’s going to be even better.
  3. Lucy – This one just looks pretty crazy, and hopefully if it does well it’ll push Marvel to do a Black Widow movie even faster.
  4. A Million Ways to Die in the West – I thought Ted was pretty damn fun, and this new one from Seth MacFarlane looks even better. There’s even a Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown cameo in one of the trailers! And that’s just a cameo, there’s still the awesome cast like Neil Patrick Harris and Liam Neeson
  5. 22 Jump Street – 21 Jump Street was surprising funny, so I’ve got pretty high hopes for the sequel. Hopefully they can do it twice, unfortunately I doubt we’ll get another Johnny Depp cameo.

  1. X-Men: Days of Future Past – The X-men are probably my favorite superhero group so I’m really excited to see this movie.
  2. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For – The first Sin City movie was awesome and I’ve been waiting since then for this to come out.
  3. Guardians of the Galaxy – As a non-comic reader I had no clue who the Guardians of the Galaxy were when this movie was announced but the trailers look awesome and I’m now super interested in this movie.
  4. The Expendables 3 – Older action movie stars killing people and blowing things up, need I say more?
  5. A Million Ways to Die in the West – I love Seth MacFarlane and everything he’s done. This movie has the potential to be totally stupid but it will probably be fun.

I easily get excited for a movie when I see the trailer, and then quickly forget, so this may take some googling.

  1. Maleficent – I hope Disney releases more villain centered movies. Forget Disney Princess, bring on Disney Villains.
  2. X-Men: Days of Future Past – As I am in the midst of reading the Hunger Games, I find myself wanting to see more and more with Jennifer Lawrence. And you can’t really see much more of her than you do with her as Mystique.
  3. Guardians of the Galaxy – Eric had me watch the trailer for this movie at least 5 times in a row. It looks awesome and it’ll be nice to be exposed to new storylines. (Plus freakin’ Karen Gillan and Chris Pratt are going to star!)
  4. Lucy – Once again, I lovvvvvve Scarlett Johansson. She’s such a badass, and this movie plot sounds incredibly thought inducing.
  5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – I haven’t given up on them yet. 😀

I find this topic to be a little late. Given, it’s only about 2 weeks late, it’s still late! If I didn’t already see Amazing Spider-Man 2, then it would be on this list. But it was disappointing, so it doesn’t even get an honorable mention.

  1. Godzilla – The King of Monsters is back! I’ve heard plenty of unnecessary skepticism due to the last American attempt to conquer this beast, but this looks infinitely better. Godzilla has been re-sized to match the growth of our cities, he’s been designed to resemble the original Godzilla in almost every way, his roar is frightening and best of all. . . HEISENBERG! If you idiots thought Pacific Rim was a good kaiju movie, then you’re in for a real treat now!
  2. X-Men: Days of Future Past – Wolverine is back in center stage as he leads the X-Men of the past to stop a horrible future. It’s going to be nuts! Also, Jennifer Lawrence. Ok, really I’m just going for that part. By now I don’t have much regard for the non-Marvel Studio’s superhero flicks.
  3. Jupiter Ascending – I honestly don’t even know what it’s about, but it’s a Wachowski movie, so it’s gonna be wild. Count me in!
  4. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY – So awesome it get’s all caps! No explanation needed! At this point I determine where I am in life based on when the next Marvel Studio’s movie is being released. Right now I’m somewhere in between “desperate” and “sad”. This movie needs to come out fuckin’ NOW!
  5. Hercules – Two different Hercules movies grace the silver screen this year. Only one of them is worth seeing, even a little bit. Hercules start Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the mighty demi-god after he’s completed his 12 labors. Now he’s a mercenary trying to survive. Is it going to be terrible? Probably. Do I need to see it? You bet you’re ass I do!
