Friday Five – Favorite Universes

Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week we help you get to know our writers with a top 5 list. This week’s category: Favorite Universes

Marvel just announced this week that they were going to be wiping out their existing comic universes and merging them into something new, after this summer’s Secret Wars. So, why not use that as a talking point for this week’s Friday Five, Favorite Universes!

Chris

1. Marvel Universe – Who wouldn’t want to live in a world full of superheroes? Well I’m sure plenty of people, but I think it sounds pretty freaking cool!
2. Star Wars – The force, Jedi’s, Lightsabers, spaceships, Wookies.
3. Parks & Recreation – If Pawnee was a real place, I’d definitely go live there.
4. Marvel Cinematic Universe I suppose this isn’t that different from the first one, but at the same time it is. Either way I seems fun, dangerous, but fun.
5. Pokemon – I just want to be the very best.

Eric

1. Dragon Age – Dragons, outlaw mages, over zealous templar as well as mysterious factions and ancient evils. I love everything about this place!
2. Elder Scrolls – Mostly Skyrim more than anything, because of the dragons. Fantasy stuff without dragons is just a waste of space.
3. Star Wars – Because who doesn’t want to live in a universe with lightsabers?
4. Saga – Everything I’ve seen in this book makes me want to be there. Check it out!
5. Marvel 2149 (Zombies) – It’s Zombies with super powers. Probably the best kind of zombies.

Shannon

1. Marvel Cinematic Universe – I didn’t really grow up geeky, that started more in my teen years, so I didn’t really get into superheroes and comics until more recently. The Marvel movies were a great gateway into starting a comic book collection.
2. Pokemon – Who doesn’t want adorable little fighting slaves? I grew up playing the games, collecting the cards, watching the show; so this one just has to be on my list.
3. Star Trek – I’m kind of frightened of space exploration but Star Trek is one of my favorite universes, I’d use the shit out of those food replicators.
4. Doctor Who – Dangerous most of the time, but sometimes aliens are nice, right? Traveling with The Doctor to exotic locations would be super cool.
5. Wreck It Ralph – It would be pretty awesome to hang out with all the different video game characters and explore their games. Plus unlimited candy in Sugar Rush!

Vogel

1. Walking Dead – Call me crazy, but I think I would “enjoy” a zombie apocalypse. I’d be the guy rigging up wind turbines and aqueducts and shit, helping people survive. Who am I kidding, I’d be patient zero with my luck.
2. Saga – Saga has a pretty intense universe going, and I wouldn’t exactly want to be caught up in a war. That being said, the magic and tech in that universe is awesome and I’d love to be a part of it.
3. Marvel Universe – Any really. I didn’t start reading comic books until about 5 years ago, so I’m not familiar with all of the different universes. I grew up watching Spider-man and The X-Men on Fox and imagined being part of that world.
4. Doctor Who – I just got into Doctor Who finally about 2 years ago, Shannon and I started watching it, and Amy and Rory were great companions, so I could see us going around with the Doctor.
5. Hyrule – I would like living in Hyrule, but I’d have to be important. This isn’t ego or arrogance, it’s because of boredom and death. The people who aren’t important to the story live a pretty standard medieval life, which I wouldn’t mind living in. I’ve fantasized about being a Bowyer or Blacksmith in the times of King Arthur. But I feel like an all powerful tyrant like Ganon( or variation thereof) wouldn’t be very fun to live with.
