Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week we help you get to know our writers with the help of a top 5 list. This weeks category: Favorite Doctor Who Episodes

The newest season of Doctor Who starts this weekend, so we decided to get a little wibbly wobbly and list off our favorite episodes! It’s all from the new series, but don’t fret, we love the old ones too! Now enjoy the lists, and don’t forget to let us know your favorites!

Chris

  1. Day of the Doctor – 50th Special – This was just something special, it was an exciting episode and really did the 50th anniversary something amazing. I think I watched it 3 times that day alone, once in the theaters and then twice on TV later that night. It was great to see David Tennant back and interacting with Matt Smith, but the inclusion of John Hurt and that special little cameo at the end really took this to an entirely new level.
  2. A Good Man Goes To War – Season 6 – I loved this episode, from the very beginning it was just a great ride and a lot of things get revealed, well not a lot just something incredibly important!
  3. Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead – Season 4 – This is probably one of my favorite set of episodes with Tennant, the scene where he threatens the vashta nerada to look him up and a second later they back away was just incredibly epic.
  4. Stolen Earth / Journey’s End – Season 4 – So many good times in this episode, but it end on such a sad one. Made even worse that just 2 specials later we were saying good buy to the Tenth Doctor.
  5. The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances – Season 1 – One of the first season’s best episodes! This had everything including the introduction of the one and only Captain Jack Harkness! But nothing could be better than the Ninth Doctor in this one. Eccleston is fantastic, and this episode was probably his best.

  1. The Day of the Doctor – It was non-stop awesomeness.
  2. Blink – The first weeping angel episode with David Tennant, it was sooo well done, and made me fear angel statues.
  3. Silence in the Library – And now we can fear shadows, too.
  4. Midnight – The doctor takes a short trip to a diamond covered planet. As annoying as this episode was, it was also really good.
  5. Day of the Moon – Explains why we all walk around with tally marks on ourselves.

  1. Day of the Doctor – okay, I know the name of that one, but John Hurt is one of my favorite actors and that was a great episode.
  2. Stolen Earth/Journey’s End– 2 David Tennants and a Doctor Donna? Yes please.
  3. Utopia/The Sound of Drums/Last of the Timelords – I loved the unnecessarily convoluted plan that was a spoiler, and then the spoiler happened.
  4. Voyage of the Damned – The cliffhanger leading into this episode left me cracking up, and the actual episode did not disappoint.
  5. Nightmare in Silver – There was a huge reference to a very old magic chess machine that I found fantastic. Also, this was a fun episode watching Matt Smith argue with himself.

This is not a fun category. Too many great episodes, and I need to choose 5… not cool, bro.

  1. The Runaway Bride – The introduction of Donna, killer robot Santa’s, and the Tardis flying around London! Great episode.
  2. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances – One of the creepiest episodes of the series which also serves as the intro of Captain Jack Harkness. Also, Christopher Eccleston!
  3. The End of Time – You cried. We all cried…
  4. The Eleventh Hour – Matt Smith had some fantastic episodes, but his introduction is probably one of my favorite. It was jarring at first: new show runner, new doctor, new cameras, new companion, etc. But it was some of the best TV I’ve ever seen. Apples are rubbish!
  5. The Lodger – The first introduction of Craig. Great episode to watch the Doctor try to fit in with society. “Here, have some rent.” * hands over a bag of cash*
