Friday Five – Favorite Remakes
Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week we help you get to know our writers with a top 5 list. This week’s category: Favorite Remakes
After a week off we’re back and this time it’s listing our Favorite Remakes. That is all, onto the list!
Chris
- Clash of the Titans (2010) – The original is unbeatable, but this remake really was fun to watch.
- Dawn of the Dead (2004) – While the original was a classic, the more modern take and better special effects really help this one out.
- Evil Dead (2013) – I suppose Evil Dead 2 is technically already a remake of Evil Dead, but regardless the newest Evil Dead was a lot of fun. It kept some stuff from the original, but kinda left it open where it may not have been a remake at all, but just another sequel.
- Dredd (2012) – Judge Dredd is one of those ’90s action movies you can’t help but love and hate at the same time. Dredd though was a whole different monster. That movie is nothing but good and it’s a shame a stigma from the original probably killed out chances at a sequel.
- Star Trek (2009) – While maybe not totally a remake, it’s close enough. I’m not really a fan of Star Trek at all, but the newer movies really are well done and fun to watch.

- Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lion – Arguable the best final fantasy made better, but unfortunately flawed. Still, one of the best games of all time!
- Resident Evil (Gamecube) – The original RE gave me the creeps on PSX. But the remake on GCN was just awesome!
- Tomb Raider Anniversary – The original Tomb Raider was one of my favorite games of all times, and the remake on PS3/360 was an outstanding throwback to the original.
- Godzilla (2014) – I don’t know that it counts as a remake, but I’m including it. It’s an awesome movie!
- Ocean’s Eleven – I never saw the original, but this movie is one of my favorites!

- Amazing Spider-Man
- Evil Dead
- In Time – totally a remake of Logan’s Run
- 300 – The 300 Spartans is one of my favorite movies of all time, 300 was a pretty good movie as well.
- Batman Year One
