Kingdom Hearts is one of those “Love it or Hate it” kind of games. I’ve never met anyone that’s in between on this one. I’m in the “Love it” category myself. I’ve played every incarnation in the US since the day one release on September 17, 2002. The travesty here is that my wife has yet to play these games (and watch Star Wars, but we’ll address that one later). As much as I’d love to show her one of my most influential and beloved series of all times, it’s just not gonna happen. These older games just don’t hold up to today’s standards of gaming. It’s damn near impossible to play through this game without your eyes bursting into a bloody mess.
Well. . . We’re in luck! Since this is the age of “nostalgia,” and cashing in on a quick buck, HD remakes are fairly abundant. And lo and behold, Kingdom Hearts is receiving one such treatment. It was announced a while back, but only for release in Japan. Today, Square Enix announced that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix will come to the US and Europe this fall, exclusively for the PlayStation 3!
Kingdome Hearts HD 1.5 Remix will include fully playable versions of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories both featuring HD make overs. The game will also include HD cinematics from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Players will now have the chance to relive the origins of Sora, Donald, and Goofy, in beautiful HD for the PlayStation 3, this fall! A great opportunity for newcomers, and series veterans, alike!
Fall is pretty far off still. . . so here’s a few screen shots to tie you over until then. We’ll keep you posted when an official release date is announced. Let us know how excited you are for Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix in the comments below!
