And with it’s release we will all finally have the HUD of out dreams!
This is just a really cool project initiative from Google announced on Google+ yesterday. They even posted a cool video displaying some of the potential behind the project. Here’s the original post from Project Glass:
We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t.
A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do.
Please follow along as we share some of our ideas and stories. We’d love to hear yours, too. What would you like to see from Project Glass?
The video shows off some of the potential for the device, what it fails to show is how cool of a gaming peripheral it could be!
I’m imagining an Augmented Reality game that syncs up with your location, like some cell phone based games do. When an enemy is approaching you’ll receive a notification on the glasses, activate it, and suddenly a HUD is displayed before you along with the location of your enemy. It could be a virtual enemy or, in multi-player situations, another person. You get to the desired location and battle your foe using a mix of real world objects, your Smart Phone to execute attacks, and glasses to track your enemy and gauge your status.
OR
Imagine a real life Pokemon game played using your Smart Phone and Project Glass. You see the creature, send out your own, battle and see it all played out in real time in Augmented Reality.
No more hiding behind our Smart Phones, PS Vitas, and 3DSs to play Augmented Reality games. This is a whole new level of immersion!
