Friday Five – Robots
Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week we help you get to know some of our writers with the help of a top 5 list! This week’s category: Robots!
Robots are awesome, mostly because they can do anything. Some can transform, some can fly, some can flail their arms wildly whilst screaming “Danger!” No matter what you need done, there’s probably a Robot that can do it. This is our tribute to the greatest fictional machines!

Robots! Ugh. . . this is gonna be fun.
- Cait Sith – Final Fantasy VII – Cait Sith was Shinra’s inside man controlled by Reeve in Final Fantasy VII. He may have been working for the bad guys, but he knew that he had to sacrifice himself to help out the heroes and did so amicably. His death scene was far more touching than that of Aerith in the same game.
- Robo – Chrono Trigger – He’s a robot from the future whose sole purpose was to observe and study humanity. He’s also just awesome.
- Clank – Ratchet and Clank – The amazing little sidekick to Ratchet and hero of the galaxy.
- HK-47 – Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – This game was amazing on it’s own, but when you throw in a wisecracking, meat bag hating, android. Pure gold.
- Guard Scorpion – Final Fantasy VII – It’s not everyday you get me listing multiple elements from Final Fantasy VII in one article. Primarily because I feel that the game is wildly overrated. But that doesn’t change the fact that it was my first forray into the JRPG genre, and it still means alot to me. Guard Scorpion was the first boss in the game. And Square was nice enough to not throw a learning curve at us, and instead force us to figure out how to not get wrecked by his laser tail. I mean, sure they had the little text box at the top that tried to tell us what was going on, but the text moved slow, and if you read it wrong it made you think you had to attack when the tail was up! UGH! Super frustrating. . .
