Friday Five – Favorite Dynamic Duos
Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week we help you get to know our writers a little better with the help of a top 5 list. This weeks category: Favorite Dynamic Duos!
It’s Valentines Day, and what better way to celebrate it than to honor our favorite fictional couples? But we aren’t restricting ourselves to romantic couples in this edition of the Friday Five! No sir! Instead we’re paying tribute to those on screen/in panel partnerships that would be criminal to break up. So read on, and don’t forget to tell us who your favorite Dynamic Duos are in the comments below!
Chris
- Troy and Abed – Community – These two were really the funniest part of the show, and usually the part with the most emotions. Now though, Troy has left and things will never be the same.
- Fitz and Simmons – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – These two are by far the best part of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and they’ve barely got any fleshing out so far. The downside to them being the best, they’ll end up being the fan favorites. And with Joss Whedon attached to the show, we all know what happens to fan favorites. . .
- Dick Grayson Batman and Damian Robin – Batman – I might be in the minority for this, but I really liked Grayson as Batman between Final Crisis and New 52, and his teaming with Damian was just really well done. It also lead to some of the more emotional stuff when it came to Damian’s death last year.
- Shawn and Gus – Psych – These two are probably the best example of best friends ever. They don’t always get along, they hardly ever agree (except about food), but they’ve still been friends since childhood. Not only that, they’re hilarious and are truly going to be missed when Psych ends at the end of this season.
- Han Solo and Chewbacca – Star Wars – Sure it may have started with Chewie declaring a life debt to Han, but these two became pretty much inseparable. And for those who never delved into the expanded universe, the death of Chewbacca really messed Han up for a long time. And was seriously depressing.

- TS and Brodie – Mallrats – 4 words, bumble the boy wonder.
- Jesse and Walter – Breaking Bad
- Joker and Harley Quinn – Batman
- Mario and Luigi – Super Mario bros.
- Rick and Carl (and sometimes Michonne) – Walking Dead (comics)
Eric
- Joel and Ellie – The Last of Us – Their relationship started off as a business deal, and ended up as one of the strongest and most emotional bonds I have ever witnessed in gaming. It’s a powerful journey that everyone should experience.
- Ratchet and Clank – Ratchet and Clank series – It’s never been a secret that I love these games. They’re humorous, action packed, and they take place in space. However, the most important part of this series are it’s protagonists. An accidental partnership that has forged one of the greatest friendships in gaming.
- Nathan Drake and Victor “Sully” Sullivan – Uncharted series – From the moment I turned on the first game back in 2007 I know I was going to love these characters. It took 3 games to finally explain how this unlikely pair first teamed up, and it was just as rewarding as the relationship we’ve seen unfold in games. Always out for the next big score, always watching each others back, Nathan Drake and Sully are one inseparable awesome duo!
- Cecil and Kain – Final Fantasy IV – Friends both at the head of the military of Baron, separated by an evil overlord. While they may have been enemies for a short time, it just strengthened their resolve and friendship in the end.
- Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson – Spider-Man – Ok, they aren’t really a dynamic duo, and technically they haven’t been a “duo” of any kind in over 5 years. However, in any medium of Spider-Man, the web slinging hero is at his best when his favorite redhead is by his side. Even after the Brand New Day arc, these two have continued to support one another, and form one of the greatest, if not frustrating, relationships in comics.
