Who knew that someone who’s angry all the time could be so sweet?! I’ve been wanting to try these Hulk Chocolate Caramel Apples for a while now, but since Walnuts’ birthday is approaching, and he’s a big advocate of Hulk, I thought that it was an appropriate time to give it a go.
What you’ll need:
– Apples
– Caramel (I chose the little round balls.)
– Marshmallows
– Purple White Chocolate Wafers
– Green White Chocolate Wafers
– Black White Chocolate Wafers
– White Chocolate Wafers
– Piping Bags
– Cookie Sticks
– Decorative Cookie Bags (optional)
– Small SaucePan or Double Boiler
– Aluminium Foil
1. Wash the apples and stick cookie sticks into the cores.
2. Melt caramel in saucepan or double boiler adding a tablespoon or two of water. (The water will soften the caramel so you don’t lose teeth when trying to eat the apple.)
3. Cover the apples in the melted caramel. Cover a plate or two in aluminium foil. Place caramel covered apples on plate and place in refrigerator to help harden the caramel.
4. Cut marshmallows in half. (Dipping knife into powdered sugar can help to keep the knife from sticking too much.)
5. Stick cut marshmallows on opposite sides of the apple. Then take an uncut marshmallow and slide it down the stick. (A damp paper towel can be used to clean the marshmallow bits off of the stick.)
6. Melt green wafers in saucepan or double boiler. Then cover the apples with the melted green chocolate. (Move quickly, the hot chocolate tends to melt the bottom layer of caramel.) Rest the apples back on the aluminium foil covered plate and place it back in the refrigerator to harden the chocolate layer.
7. Melt purple wafers in saucepan or double boiler. Then cover about an inch up from the base with the melted purple chocolate. Rest the apples back on the aluminium foil covered plate and place it back in the refrigerator to harden the chocolate layer.
8. Melt black wafers in saucepan or double boiler. Then spoon the chocolate into a piping bag. Decorate the Hulks as seen below. Repeat with the white wafers to complete the eyes.
Of course these sweet, angry little guys won’t last long.
