Humble Origin Bundle

Humble Origin Bundle Logo

The Humble Bundle isn’t really anything new. It’s been coming around every few months with some awesome new game bundles, for incredibly low prices and the option to donate the proceeds to charity. It’s an outstanding concept that has allowed me, and many others, to grow my STEAM library by the dozens for just small sums of cash, whilst simultaneously making me feel awesome for being charitable.

Recently the Humble Bundle has branched out to books, and at one point it became the Humble THQ Bundle to raise money to help THQ out of it’s financial situation. While plenty of money was raised, THQ was still sadly dismantled. . . But thousands of gamers still helped.

It looks as if EA has taken notice of the reach and buzz generated from the Humble Bundle, and as such has decided to take part in it’s own version to gain support for it’s Origin digital distribution platform. For those of you that don’t know, Origin is EA’s version of STEAM. Going further, STEAM is a digital distribution software developed by Valve. It’s primarily used to sell games, and has quite a large community backing it. Origin is much less fortunate. . .

In standard Humble Bundle fashion, there are 6 games available for purchase in the bundle. If you happen to feel generous and want to donate higher than the average donation you will receive 2 more games. The good news, most of these games are available on STEAM. Bad news, the best ones are Origin only. So while we are getting Dead Space, and Mirrors Edge for STEAM. We still need Origin to play Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3, and Sims 3. But it’s absolutely worth it.

The current average is just under $5. Donate $5 and you get 8 awesome games. Donate more and feel better about yourself for supporting charity!

Taking everything a step further, EA stated that all proceeds will go to Charity, and the Humble Bundle team. No money is being held onto by EA for any profit whatsoever. So even if you’re an EA hater you shouldn’t feel bad about throwing a few extra dollars their way to support charity.

The charities supported by this Humble Bundle are: Human Rights Campaign, Watasi, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, and San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

Games included in the bundle are: Dead Space, Burnout Paradise Ultimate, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Mirrors Edge, Dead Space 3*, Medal of Honor, Battlefield 3*, and Sims 3 + Starter Pack*.
Games marked with * are Origin only. Battlefield 3 and Sims 3 require a donation higher then the current average.

So go ahead, pay what you want for these 8 awesome games and support charity at the Humble Origin Bundle.
